She's beautiful. How wonderful for you. Note for next time: I've always thought it's easier on all concerned to go straight to a planned C-section. I have three kids and just reading about thing like pitocin and effacement and labor makes me flinch.
I've never had a labor pain and I hope never to experience one.
Just a thought.
Did I mention that she's beautiful?

Lily said...

Miz Kizzle. Natural childbirth is the most incredible, beautiful experience you could imagine. I had my two this way and it was wonderful. So did many of my friends. I'm sorry you couldn't experience this. Fear of pain can get in the way of women experiencing something truly amazing. Natural drugfree childbirth leaves you energised and ready to face the busy days ahead with a newborn instead of recovering from a caesarean which is major surgery and leaves you unable to lift, drive etc etc. C-sections also have the potential to affect bonding with your new baby. I hope your comment doesn't deter mothers to be from having faith in their abilities to birth their children naturally.

Amalia said...

What a beautiful baby!! She is just lovely. Well done girls!
I totally agree with you Lily. People don't seem to realize that a C-section isn't just a straight forward procedure and carries many risks to both mother and baby. Sometimes it is the best and safest means for a baby to be born if medically necessary, but elective caesareans, just because someone is scared of pain, or for the parents' convenience is just wrong.

A bit late to the party! Many congrats and hope that your first week as Mommies has been wonderful. :) I'm glad that she made it in time for Mothers' Day!

I know you ladies are busy but I'm dying for more pics and updates. I didn't post much either in Maddie's first few weeks due to sheer exhaustion and I later wished I had to capture it all and remember. (I know, it sounds like I'm only saying that to get you to post - maybe just a little...but it really is true). Hope you're getting some sleep as you enjoy your little beauty.

Lurker who has followed your story for the long journey you were on! What a beautiful destination! I love her name...my Gracie is Gracyn Maeve, though the name Greyson is gaining in popularity here in the south, it is only among boys so far. Your little one is the first other Gracyn (Gracie) I have heard "met". Congratulations!
