'Tis the season

to be jolly and I know my posts have been lacking in that department lately. Soooo, I thought I'd share a little something with you. Something non baby related. Something cheerful. From the heart. From the heart and blog of dear friend. A friend who knows the meaning of the season.

The following was taken from that friends blog. Their experience. Their words. Not mine.

**At Wal-Mart yesterday I stood in the corralled line of the slowest cashier in history……The woman in front of me; her cart loaded with thoughts of her children for Christmas….I noticed that many of the items were off brand, and carefully selected……Not just toys, but crafts and educational items……..

Her purse was so tattered and a name badge was hanging from its side….However, the name badge and current clothing did not match…….Then it became apparent; she worked two dead end jobs as she spoke to the cashier…Struggling, single, and hardworking……….Amazing what you can learn at the check out……..

**The total of the gifts; did not match what was available to her………She began to apologize profusely, the blush of embarrassment was very apparent…..She removed a number of toys, and kept the crafts and educational booklets, and such…..The tears began to flow down her cheek, and silently scream in my mind……………..Both the cashier and I told her it was okay, and that no apology was necessary……The grumpy old man behind me began to make well advertised sighs; I was annoyed by him!The lady made her way towards the exit; attempting to conceal her tears by looking down……The empathy displayed by the cashier was reflected in her somber greeting to me….

I am unsure why; maybe it was the old man, Christmas, or the tears…..I told the cashier to ring up what was not purchased….The Cashier looked at me in complete disbelief; actually, I felt the same way………Her hands moved so fast; I was shocked how quick she had the order ready……All while calling on the intercom for another store employee…..Ahhh, I like when people can perform duel purposes on the job! Then a young employee was given a description, and dashed out the door with the bags……

67.33 she said; the cash was handed over without any wavier……The Grumpy Old Man was so lost in the moment, and his face showed puzzlement…..I then purchased my items, and the young employee came back with a huge smile….He had delivered them to her, and when she asked who or why; Santa was his response….I loved it….!!!!

The old man made some comment like she did that all on purpose; he did not see what I did….Education, and Crafts over toys??? Give me a break old timer!I looked at the Grumpy Old Man, and said ” Merry Christmas”Then as I attempted to leave, the store manager wanted my name in regards to my generosity…..I refused, but shook his hand with a big smile…..It felt so good…..

I saw her in the parking lot; studying me as I walked to my car…….I know she attempted to get my attention with a wave and said something……The conversation, moment, and meaning would be pointless to me…..Hard for many to comprehend; its just me…….I just drove away……..The Christmas songs were blaring, and the sun came out! Some kids and their mother would have a good Christmas…….**

There really are angels. All around us. Even in Wal-Mart.

You're smiling aren't you?

Peace & Blessings. M and I love you all!
